Disgusting treatment and doing his own thing with a tattoo

I want to warn people who plan on getting a tattoo from Dylan at Bone Deep Tattoo in Durban North to think twice. Here is my story of complete and utter unprofessional service I got from Dylan. I first made contact with Dylan via WhatsApp on the 4/4/2018 on their business phone. I informed him that I wanted a price on a sentence. I also indicated I would like advice as to where the sentence should be placed as I don’t want my Angelwings ruined that I’ve had for 11 years. The response I got was that he would place it above my wings. Appointment was made for the 14th at 6pm. When I got to his house since he works from his house I was greeted by a young lady named Monique. She asked me to look at different fonts and we decided on a font. I paid the balance of the amount as a deposit had to be paid beforehand. In comes Dylan smoking and in a clear glass he had what I thought was Appletizer. Later when I turned around after the whole tattoo fiasco that you will read about now I saw him drinking beer straight out of a can. Had I known it was beer he was drinking there is absolutely no way I would have ever allowed him to tattoo me. He told me he will do shading on the writing that would not have been a problem. He used the Hectograph Paper to do the writing of the sentence for me to approve. That is proper procedure that all tattoo artist follow as the client has to approve. I approved the writing and so commenced the start of the tattoo. He asked me for my cell phone to take a photo and I started crying I was mortified. He did the sentence but for some unknown reason he went ahead and inbetween my Angelwings he did his own thing without my permission and what he calls “Downfeathers” He never at any stage used the Hectograph Paper and drew the “Downfeathers” and showed me what he plans on doing for me to approve. I would have absolutely told him NO as my Angelwings are now completely ruined. When I confronted him he told me that this is what they do internationally between Angelwings and that South Africa is behind the international ways. He proceeded to tell me the only wings that just on your back without “Downfeathers” are satan evil wings or batwings. I was beside myself. I just went there to get a sentence tattoo on my back and what do I get on my back can only be described as a complete an utter ********. Dylan told me to come back in 3 weeks then we can talk. I went home in tears and 3 days later I send him a message saying how disgusted I am in this tattoo and that he needs to please make a time in his schedule for me to come and see him. Were things will be discussed and changes will be made at his cost. His girlfriend Monique responded saying that Dylan has never had a complaint and that changes will not be at his cost. (However in a recording Dylan said he will make changes) I was later advised not to let Dylan fix my back since he already messed it up why would I trust him to fix it. This Monique told me Dylan can see me on the 28th April 3pm. Monique reiterated that it will not be at Dylan cost since I had no idea what I wanted for a tattoo. However I told her she should go back to all our WhatsApp conversations were I said from the beginning I just want a sentence saying – Per coloro che hanno fede la vita non avre fine I also told her that it’s not my first Rodeo when it comes to tattoos and that Dylan did not follow proper procedure by not using Hectograph paper and asking for my approval. At that point she told me it’s best to find a different artist to help me. I said to her we can sit down on the 28th and discuss it at 3pm. She then agreed to the 28th at 3pm.

On the 28th April 3pm I arrived in front of their gate I get a WhatsApp saying no sorry they can’t see me today as they have an emergency. REALLY???!!! You wait until I’m in front of your gate to tell me that. Bearing in mind you know I rely on transport. So on Monday the 30th I made contact again via telephone and Monique told me I can come and see Dylan on Saturday 5th May 11am. Friday the 4th I get a WhatsApp saying they can’t see me on the 5th at 11am as they are going to a funeral. She told me it was a last minute decision to attend the funeral. So I WhatsApp them and said so when can we arrange to meet and they say we can meet on Sunday 6th at 12 o’clock. So Sunday I get there at the arranged time and phone them to inform them that I’m at the gate. Monique sounds very surprised that I’m there. The gate opens and she say she’ll call Dylan and it took him a good 15 minutes to come out of the house. I’m immediately greeted with anger before I can even say hello where he tells me “He is not doing this and I might as well get the F-off his property!!!” I said to him “Dylan let’s just sit down and talk like adults. You have cancelled numerous appointments and now that I’m here you want to chase me. I said to him that I got a quote from a different tattoo artist and that to cover up the disaster on my back will cost between R5000 – R7000. Again he told me he is not doing this and that I must F-off. So I offered for him to go for a polygraph test to prove that he never asked my permission to do the downfeathers. He completely flew off the handle at that point. If you are innocent why would you refuse a polygraph ???!!! I’m writing this so potential future clients don’t have to deal with what I have dealt with and now have to deal with. As stated above it’s going to cost me between R5000 – R7000 for a cover-up tattoo. Just because Dylan decided to do his own thing. All this while drinking beer unbeknownst to me. AGAIN IF YOU’RE INNOCENT WHY WOULD YOU REFUSE TO GO FOR A POLYGRAPH???!!!
