****** by a Bolt driver

Bolt is absolutely disgraceful. I had the scariest moment of my life happen on 20 December 2025 at around 02:38 am.

LUTHANDO RUBIN CATER driving a WHITE SUZUKI SWIFT (2024 or 2025 model; it had CarPlay) with the number plate FV55PWGP picked up my friend and I at Lucky Rodrigo in Menlo Park at around 02:38 am. Note: I am NOT a minor; I am 21 years old. Even though he picked us up at a bar, it DOES NOT MEAN I was drunk. I had one beverage. I was fully aware of my surroundings. WHY should this even be a loophole to try and redirect the blame? Even if I was under the influence, Bolt sells itself as safe. Sober or not, a person is supposed to be safe. Also, I did not have data. My friend gave me a hotspot to order the Bolt, and then as we got in the car, it disconnected. Additionally, my phone was on 1%, so LUCKILY I took a screenshot and I send it to my friend driving with me; hence, I have this driver's information to the nitty-gritty.

Cater was not hostile. When we entered the vehicle, he was friendly and asked us if we had a good night. This was obviously just to arouse us, to get us comfortable. Before we even left, Cater told me he lost connection to the Bolt app, and could I please insert my address into Waze. He asked this because he CANCELLED the ride when we CLIMBED IN. He had a **** version of Bolt on his phone as well – a ****fed, tampered-with version.

We drove firstly on the highway. RED FLAG. The bolts always drive through PTA CBD immediately. LUCKILY, and I thank goodness every single day, my friend called our male friend ON SPEAKER. I am dead sure this saved my life. After he heard that a man knew where we were, he took an off route to PTA CBD. I knew the road he was taking to my house at least.

While we were driving, Cater was playing Billie Eilish. Come on? Why would this 30-something man play Billie Eilish? OBVIOUSLY to earn 2 20 year old trust. I even COMPLIMENTED his music! My phone also died. SOMEHOW HE KNEW. He said that he has lost signal to my phone. I thought this was pecu****. What was I to do? I was in his car? He offered me the charger in his car. RED FLAG. This charger was the exact charger a person gets when they get a new iPhone. This man had a Samsung. This charger had to be tampered with as well; my phone went from 0 to 8% in 2 minutes.

When we arrived at my house, this ******** told me that because my phone had died, it automatically cancelled the ride, and he wasn't going to get money. I am not a ******** in the slightest. If you have done a job, you should get paid, whether that is mopping floors or being a bolt driver. This man took absolute advantage of my kindness.

I was standing outside of the car at the passenger window. I asked for his number to transfer it to him later. He said, once again very calmly, that maybe I can e-wallet it to him. He gave me his REAL name AND number. THABO JOE. My friend gave me her hotspot again, and then a notification came through that I paid, and I showed it to him. He then PUSHED me, GRABBED my phone out of my hand, and drove so fast he almost drove into the neighbour's wall.

This man was an old *****. He proceeded to drain my bank account, hacked my emails to change my passwords, and deleted my Apple account. He also wiped my Macbook. I went to the police immediately, as my boyfriend was down the road. The police basically told me, 'Too bad, so sad.'

Bolt support is even worse. They compensated me R19. So pathetic. So disrespectful. They will go to war for literal ********s, and laugh at the actual victims
