Bobshop: Pay for enhancements, lose them in 48 hours
On 15 December 2025, I paid R75.00 for listing enhancements on Bobshop for item #***, consisting of:
Category page featured listing (R10.00)
Home page listing (R50.00)
Priority listing (R15.00)
Due to a required relisting shortly thereafter, all paid enhancements were removed, resulting in an effective duration of less than two days. There was no clear warning or disclosure at the time of purchase that these paid enhancements could expire so quickly or deliver virtually no value.
I opened a support ticket (#622818) on 17 December 2025 at 10:04 AM. Although the ticket indicated a response due on 18 December, Bobshop only responded on Monday, 22 December 2025 — a six-day delay.
The response received failed to address the issue and consisted of a generic, copy-paste policy explanation, completely ignoring:
the unreasonable duration of the paid service,
the lack of disclosure at purchase, and
the unacceptable support delay.
Charging for a paid service that delivers under two days of exposure, combined with delayed and dismissive support, raises serious concerns under the Consumer Protection Act, particularly regarding fair value, reasonable quality of service, and proper disclosure.
I have formally requested a refund of R75.00.
Before Bobshop considers sending yet another copy-paste response, this needs to be clearly understood: “Policy does not override the Consumer Protection Act or justify charging for a service that provided under two days of exposure.”
If unresolved, I will escalate the matter to the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud (CGSO) for further investigation.
