Bobshop and RAM Courier – Disappointing and Unfair Policies for Second-Hand Sellers

I recently sold a collectible Winnie the Pooh teapot on Bobshop, a cherished item from my late mother’s collection. I took meticulous care in packing and labeling it as fragile, ensuring it was properly protected for its journey to the buyer. When the item arrived, the buyer informed me it was broken. I immediately contacted Bobshop, believing their recommended courier, RAM, would provide support for damaged items. To my dismay, I was informed that neither Bobshop’s transit insurance policy nor RAM would cover the damage because it involved a second-hand item.

Bobshop’s response was even more frustrating. Despite second-hand items being the core of their marketplace, they knowingly use a courier service that doesn’t insure second-hand goods. Sellers are expected to either refund the buyer out of their own pocket or send a replacement item, effectively absorbing the loss on behalf of Bobshop’s questionable courier policies.

The lack of accountability and inadequate support for sellers has left me disappointed and unwilling to use Bobshop’s platform again. They failed to protect my interests and my late mother’s valuable keepsake.

If you’re a seller of collectibles or second-hand goods, be cautious—Bobshop and RAM’s policies may leave you financially vulnerable should anything go wrong
