BMW Panel Shop PMB - Terrible Experience

To whom it may concern.

I expect proper service from BMW, not special attention or red-carpet treatment - just Proper Service.

Having had panel work done on my BMW 220D, here in Pietermaritzburg by the New BMW Panel Shop in town I was expecting "Proper Service".

On collecting the vehicle, it took seconds to see that the panel below the door was completely out of alignment with the major side panel - this was obvious - I brought it to the attention of the BMW floor manager and he sent the vehicle back to the workshop ------ +- half an hour later the vehicle comes back out - we inspect it together - he points out that the bottom panel below the door sill has scratches on it - so he calls someone from the workshop to "pencil" it up -- All of this happening when I am supposed to be collecting the vehicle 100% perfectly repaired and ready to go..

What kind of inspection was actually done before contacting me to say the vehicle was ready ?

I get into the vehicle and the first thing I notice is the panels on the inside of the vehicle are not 100% aligned & the black head lining is covered with finger marks & "dirt" - the car may be 3 years + old but to this point there has not been a blemish on the black headlining - one would expect a proper panel shop to take care Not to blemish the vehicles they work on ??

Collection was Friday afternoon the 1st November 2019 -- it wasn’t long after leaving the panel shop that I noticed bad road noise - air coming in through the drivers side door - being a 2 door coupe this car has no window frames on the doors - the rubbers had clearly Not been aligned properly & even at very low speeds air was coming through into the cabin - unacceptable

Surely this is the kind of thing that the panel shop would have tested / looked out for before handing the vehicle back to the client ?@?

I needed to get back to work so I never took the vehicle back to the panel shop. I was at the BMW Panel Shop first thing Monday morning having arranged a Friend to meet me there and get me to my place of work. I pointed out the misaligned panels on the inside of the vehicle and the misaligned rubbers on the door / window that needed to be properly adjusted - "no problem Sir, we will sort it out" - the following morning ( Tuesday 5th November ) I was contacted to say the vehicle was 100% cleaned & ready for collection.

I make arrangements to get to the panel shop - the secretary calls the workshop to advise that I am there - we wait - I go and inspect the vehicle and upon getting inside see that the panels inside the vehicle have Not been aligned properly - after waiting 10+ minutes for someone to come and hand over the vehicle to me I decide to ask the secretary if anyone is coming - she said no - so I left. The vehicle had not been cleaned as the secretary said it had either.

On driving the freeway to check for road noise through the door - nothing was noticeable until 150km/h - which to my best knowledge is "acceptable".

The issue of the misaligned panels inside the vehicle - this really gets to me as I am now expected to see these misaligned panels every time I enter and exit the vehicle - on a perfectly good condition and well looked after vehicle - this is unacceptable - it shows that no pride was taken in the repair work and this is both un-professional and unacceptable.

I decided to take the vehicle to Supertech BMW dealership in PMB where I went straight to the service manager Johnathan and explained my situation & disappointment.

Johnathan was extremely sympathetic and apologetic and immediately phoned the owner of the BMW panel shop who I then spoke to - I did not unfortunately catch his name but he assured me that he would contact me on Thursday ( today the 7th November ) and collect the vehicle personally and fix everything 100%

As I am writing this letter, it is past 11h00 Thursday and I have not had any phone calls from anyone regarding the proper repair of my BMW..

I am at this point completely unimpressed with BMW & extremely disappointed.
