Massively over-priced BMW failed components.

BMWs are certainly sophisticated high-tech vehicles... but of late they don't appear to last very well, with many high tech components failing long before they should. Heaven help anyone who retains a BMW after the warranty expires! My complaint is that BMW spare parts are massively over-priced, and they do not support genuine (but used) BMW spares, and hold owners to ransom for new parts. In this instance, the instrument cluster on my 325ti failed. BMW wanted R18k for a replacement part (the whole car only sells for R60k!!) and they didn't even have any in stock, So I bought a used cluster for R1500. BWW Pinetown however refuse to correct the mileage and VIN to match the service record on the car, claiming that they "can't" do this via diagnostics.

Now I really hate being fed nonsense, because presumably if I bought a new cluster they would undoubtedly have been able to correct the mileage and VIN (for a further exhorbitant fee no doubt).

BMW need to stand by their "superb" products that fail so badly beyond the warranty.
