Sale of unroadworthy motorcycle

I recently bought a BMW motorcycle,model K1200GS,from BMW motorrad in Boksburg.<br> <br> It seems the salesman sold me the motorcycle without the back brakes being in working order, knowing full well that on collection I was undertaking a 2000 km journey.<br> <br> Basically at the 1st toll collection point I came to I realised I did not have any rear brakes.<br> <br> Anyway,I survived the perilous journey unscathed by learning to brake with the front brakes and decelerating timeously.<br> <br> Once I got home I booked the motorcycle in for a service with Donford BMW in Stellenbosch,and what the technician there told me I found quite chilling.<br> <br> Firstly the rear brake pad was none-existent,so metal on metal was the reason for there being no rear braking.<br> <br> He found that someone had bypassed the brake warning light so that explained why there was no visual danger warning.<br> <br> He also assumed that the motorrad team in Boksburg had not done a safety check or they would have picked up the faulty brake system before the re-sale of the motorcycle.<br> <br> BMW's response was from the smarmy salesman who told me I don't need the brakes,must be a design flaw in their bikes imo?Seems it is their policy to bypass the warning lights?***?
