WHY CAN'T I HANDLE MY OWN CREDIT APPLICATION?

I phoned BMW FInancial Services yesterday to enquire about if they still have a special interest rate. The person helping rep**** that I should ask the dealership. I would like to know why? Why can't I handle my own credit application with BMW (that I have done numerous times in the last 20 years) as I DON'T WANT TO DO A CREDIT APPLICATION THROUGH ANYBODY AT ANY BRANCH AS I DO NOT WANT MY PERSONAL INFORMATION AVAILABLE FOR ALL AND SUNDRY.
