Cancel voluntary surrender acc***

As at November 2017 I had 1 month arrears on my account and decided to voluntarily surrender my vehicle before the November 2017 payment became due. I was advised that my decision was responsible and acceptable and would allow me a break to arrange the arrears of these 2 months. I was told that when I am ready, I should call in and state that I am ready to collect my vehicle again after settling the full arrears including storage. When I contacted BMW legal team they have now advised me that the full balance on the vehicle must be paid. My car is financed over 60 months with an excess due at end of term being 31 August 2018. They have asked for a motivation letter explaining that I am ready due to an improved income (which I have supp**** a payslip whoing earning have increased by R10 000 per month ) They are still not satisfied and have asked for proof of insurance and bank statements. My bank statements which will only show the same situation I was in when I surrendered the vehicle. The have also asked me to activate and who proof of insurance without confirming when the policy should start because they wont confirm when I can pay in the arrears instalments and collect my car.

I feel misadvised by the legal team when I was assisted with the voluntary surrender process, had I known I would have kept the car in my possession and made smaller payments in the interim.

I have always received great service from BMW but feel that they are being unreasonable and are acting differently to what I was advised when surrendering the car temporarily.
