Bluu - the masochist’s choice

We hired from Bluu through Discover car hire from Cape Town in August. The Mercedes Vito was a somewhat lived in base model with a lot of little dings. We photographed and videotaped the exterior and unfortunately picked up another ding (with the vehicle unattended) for which we expected up to €1000 to be charged. A South African friend retired from the motor trade viewed it and pronounced it a R10,000 (€600) dent. Bluu thought differently. We were charged well in excess of €2500.

To add insult to injury, they delayed invoicing us until after the period within which we could have claimed from our insurance. They had also attempted to claim for pre existing windscreen damage when we returned the vehicle. Sharp practice seems to be their primary business model, the car hire is incidental. Emphatic thumbs down !
