Bluebean slick website - pathetic backoffice. All show and no substance.

Where do I start? This Blue Bean application is a comedy and is exactly how not to run a business.

10 days ago I app**** online for a Blue Bean (Standard Bank) credit card, wanting to take advantage of the free monthly fees if you spend R2000 or more a month. My primary bank is FNB although I do have a Standard Bank account. I uploaded the required supporting documentation (ID, address and bank statements) along with the application. The application was approved pending verification of the required documents. The following day I received a call from a BB call centre agent to say she had received my application and could I please email her the documents. I told her I had uploaded them successfully. She couldn't find them. I asked if I could instead fax them and she gave me a fax number ***. I successfully faxed them to the number with a covering letter giving my application ID 3j-6gt19 and contact details.

The next day I received an automated email addressed to "DearWilson" (sic) and saying "Congrats!" (sic) I was one step away from my brand new card. I only had to provide a copy of my ID, proof of address and 3 months bank statements. I phoned the Blue Bean call centre number in the email to ask if they had received my documents okay, and why I was being pestered for documents that I had already provided TWICE, only to be told that the call centre was unable to help me because "Blue Bean applications are handled separately and we have no access to that part of the system"!! The Standard Bank credit card call centre agents was helpful and forwarded my query to Blue Bean. To date I have had no response from Blue Bean in relation to my call to their help centre.

Four days ago I received another automated email requesting documents. This time I forwarded the email to *** (which the previous Standard Bank call centre agent had told me was the ONLY way to get in touch with Blue Bean) along with my details and application ID. The next day I received a response asking for my ID, which I sent. Today I received another response from a different person saying they had forwarded my email to the application department.

How do I cancel my application? Because Blue Bean SUX and I'm not even a customer yet.

Good day Graham Wilson

Well, after nearly two weeks and with the assistance of Gerald from Standard Bank Complaint Resolution Centre, I received a new black Blue Bean credit card.
But the drama continued...
I tried to link the card to my Standard Bank internet banking profile, only to be told that this was impossible. I would have to create a second internet banking profile based on my credit card. I would have two use TWO Standard Bank internet banking profiles going forward. Any payments to my Blue Bean credit card would have to be done by setting up Blue Bean as a beneficiary in my 1st profile and making an external payment to that beneficiary. To view Blue Bean transactions and statements I would have to log on to the second profile. I could not believe the inefficiency of the system and Standard Bank's antiquated way of doing things.
I cancelled the Blue Bean card that day. It was just not worth the hassle.
As a side note: FNB undewrite the Discovery VISA credit card, which is managed by Discovery. Want to link the Discovery credit card to your FNB internet profile. No problem. Standard Bank could learn from FNB in this regard.
