Badly manufactured ring
A claim was put in for my Wife's wedding ring that got lost/******. The Insurer did not want to pay out the R32400.00, that the ring was evaluated for. The Insurance asked for proof and requested the valuation Certificate, that was send to them. We have requested that the ring should be made by the original Jeweller that designed and made the ring the first time. The Insurance refused, to pay the claim, because they wanted an evaluation certificate from 2011 when the ring was originally made, and we only have one from 27th February 2013 that we send to them. The Insurance then decided to use Blue Crane Replacements, that said they will make the ring for R10832.48. My conversation with Josephine over the phone stated that if the ring does not look the same as the one that got lost, I will send it back, to make it as it should look. The ring was received on the 28th March 2019, with the first look we had at the ring, we picked up, the ring does not look the same. Not the same weight. And, not the same colour as it has been. My wife’s original ring, had 12 diamond stones in it, not just x 10 that the Blue Crane Replacement Jeweller, has put in at 0.12ct’s and it should have been 12 x 0.15ct diamond stones. They made the ring from a photo I send to them. My opinion – it is a badly manufactured ring. I sent an email to inform them that I will not accept the ring the same day I received it (20th March 2019). I also requested them to collect the ring and take it back to the Blue Crane Manufactures. The only reply I did receive from the Insurer is that they will take it up with Management, and get back to me. On Tuesday 2nd April 2019, I did send the Insurer an email again, to follow up on this matter. I also told them in the email that if I do not hear anything back from them by or on the 4th of April 2019, I will take this matter further. On the 11th April 2019, I received an email back from the Jeweller that stated, that I have approved the 3D design they have sent me, and according to them the ring is made to the description I have send them. They also mentioned that they will take the ring back to smoother out the metal that looks like 2 rings have been welded together. As for the diamonds, our evaluation certificate sent to them, had the correct amount of diamonds on with the correct description of the diamond stones and size of the ct’s. This is not acceptable. I have all our email’s as proof for reference if you need it, I will gladly send all communication to you on request. I would like the Insurance to do the following:
