Very Very Bad Service

Over a period of a few months I accrued 55 Beer bottles. So I decided to go too my Blue Bottle Liquor ( Witpoortjie , Pick and Pay Centre ) store to hand them in as this is where I got them from.

As I got there with the bottles, a staff member receiving the bottles, teld me that I have to pack them into the crats while he was just sitting on the crats.. That's when I said to him why must I do it, I am the client, you work here. He then said because he is not going to do that. I then said to him this is bull**** and I will not accepts this. Now he is in my ear telling me why is this ****.

At this stage I call the guy in the Office ( Not sure if he is Manager or Owner ). Before I could even explain the whole story to him he starts making excuses. Fed up with the none service so far I tell him I don't need excuses let just get this shorted.

After all of this the Manager tells me I have R50 rand and I can go and get something, so I went and Got 2 Beer's R42. So he says I must choose something for 8 Rand as they do not give cash only vouchers, to which I rep**** do you have a Beer for R8. He rep**** No.

Usually I would just say don't worry but because they gave me **** from the start I said give me my change as it is a deposit. He rep**** that if I don't like it I should take it to SAB and get my money.

So here I lost it and gave him the speech, Bad service, arrogant staff, Already Mad and now you are just making me dep@#$ in ( Lost it as this was not on ).

You would think it ends here but you will be wrong, now the Manager gives me under the table threat saying you work in retail, I will see you soon in your shop. I asked him what does he mean and he just said see you soon.

This is totally unacceptable. How can people still be in business with this kind of service.

I would love to see if they will respond to this.

Good afternoon PJ, thank you for bringing our attention to this matter. All our Blue Bottle Stores are individually owned and operated so the processes regarding vouchers is controlled and decided by the store owner. I have forward this message to the store owner so that he can look into this matter with his staff and provide feedback. We will get back to you as soon as the investigation is complete. Kind regards The Blue Bottle Group

Message from our store - Witpoortjie Blue Bottle Liquors
Good afternoon

Trust all is well.
This customer came into the shop and brought 55 empty bottles in for returns.
He was helped by my merchandiser. The merchandiser provided crates to be filled up by the customer with the empty bottles that he brought. The merchandiser asked the customer to place the bottles into the crates so that he can calculate the bottles with him accordingly.
The customer was upset about this and started swearing and arguing with the merchandiser.

I heard a commotion about who is packing the bottles into crates, then the customer called me.
I tried to explain to the customer the process that we follow with regards to returns, but he refused to listen.

I tried to defuse the situation and informed the customer that I will assist him with this by helping the merchandiser to pack and count the bottles accordingly.
We then proceeded to the counter to finalize his totals for his voucher.
The customer’s total was R50.05

He decided to take 2x 1L Black Label bottles to the value of R42.
He then asked for his change because we don’t have anything for R8 that he wanted, but I told him that unfortunately we don’t give change or cash to customers as per our notice instore. I then suggested that he can buy something else and pay in the difference.
The customer then started swearing again and demanded his R8.
I knew that the situation would worsen in front of all other customers if I didn’t act immediately.
I decided to go against our store policy and offered to give the customer the R8 to keep the situation from escalating.
The customer then accepted his R8 change, but still was not satisfied.

He stated that he works in retail and our service is pathetic.
The Customer then proceeded to tell us that he will no longer support the store, even after we fulfilled all his requests.

As a last effort to save the relationship that we have with the customer, I informed him that I will also support his store in future.
The customer took it in the wrong way and thought that we were threatening him. He stated that he will not be threatened and started swearing again after which he left the store.

We tried in all means to assist the customer and still provided the service that he requested even after all the staff were mistreated.
We are disappointed that the situation escalated to this point, and we hope the customer have a change of heart towards Blue Bottle Witpoortjie.

Reviewer Update
Good day, it has been a year since this happen and I want to congratulate Blue Bottle Witpoortjie on this turn around.

They have up their game and service, not just to me but I feel to all their shoppers/clients. Standing in the Que I only see smiling, happy faces, from all the staff greeting all the people in the store.

They are always there to help; their service has improved so much. To the Manager of the store that made these changes and got the staff to believe and follow his lead is great, I want to say thank you.

With the service we receive from your store I hope to be a client for a very long time.

Regards
