Chaos @ Blubetty
Hello, my name is Marissa and I would just like to state what happened to me while buying two pairs of shoes from blubetty. I am a South African citizen who lives abroad and was wanting to purchase these shoes because of an advert I had seen on IG. I completed the online request form, typed in my address, etc. When I clicked on Paypal, it took me there directly and gave me an amount we had to pay which I paid in full. A few days later, I received emails from blubetty from different personnel, one wrote saying that they had payment but did not know for what, the other said that they found an invoice but no payment. Basically, their website although allowing for internationals to buy from them, forbids them to make the right payment. I was told after all the confusion was over that I needed to pay a further €50 for shipping but no word about customs although on their website it does say that custom prices cannot be stated. My husband works in purchasing and knows that customs would cost about €20. But Blubetty have another company doing their customs for them who charge a total about of €46. So all in all, both shipping and the cost of customs adds up to another pair of shoes except I only get two pairs for the price of two. We buy from South African companies all the time and find that it is cheaper to buy from South Africa but in the case of Blubetty, it is far more expensive to buy from them. Firstly, they cannot guarantee that what you order online is the right price at the end and does not include shipping therefore forcing customers to pay extra money on sending money to them online without refund even though it is completely their fault. And secondly, the fact that they use a company which uses yet another company which charges way too much for customs. I think that if you are a South African buying Blubetty goods from abroad, I would strongly suggest, getting a relative to buy them for you and sending them to you via DHL, at least this way customs will only cost €20.
Hello Marissa, thank you for the review.
You emailed querying the cost of the customs fees that you had been asked to pay - I wasn't sure at the time due to the split nature of the handling charges on top of the customs fees and so made contact with our courier company asking for feedback and clarity for you. I also asked the courier company to make direct contact with you and provided them with your email address, although follow up from Blu Betty certainly should have been in order too. Upon Colleen's involvement to assist with resolution, her contact with the Regional Manager of the courier company deemed the handling charges excessive and unfounded and the courier company then sought to look into the charges for you. We have since been provided with feedback as to what they are attributable to. In order to ensure you got your shoes urgently after the aggravation you endured, Blu Betty resolved to pay the charges deemed unprecedented and to resolve in a personal capacity with the courier company.
The courier company acted and your parcel was released from Customs. I followed up with them this morning and have been told that your parcel was delivered and signed for on Friday 20 June.
I would like to take this opportunity to apologise for the inconveniences suffered.
Kind Regards,
Shannon Crawley - Blu Betty
