A Birth among births... 🌻
From day one I was greeted as if I had known them for years. The warmest hug that you can get, reassuring you that this is a safe place. Every appointment was met with the same energy, smiles, big hugs and I always got asked if I had absolutely ANY questions for them. I usually didn't but I appreciated that I got asked, and when I did, I was always given a thorough answer.
This was my second pregnancy, I was pregnant the previous year too so back to back pregnancies without a rest. It was taxing on my body and mind but the team at Blissful Birth always encouraged me and eased my mind of any negativity I might have had. It was a fast pregnancy but towards the end it all seemed to drag.
At around 37 weeks I thought I was in labor, messaged my Doula (Taanie Sheereen) who reassured me everything is fine and everything will go smoothly and fast. Only for it to be a false alarm and just be braxton hicks. Taanie Sheereen checked up on me a few times that night.
Fast forward to 2 weeks later when I finally did go into labor, 2 days before my actual due date. Taanie Sheereen was a text or video call away at any time I needed her. She checked in regularly and when I started bleeding and got abit panicked they told me to come in so they could see whats happening. And as always you're welcomed with that warm embrace and I settled immediately. Taanie Henelie checked me and it wasn't those checks at the hospital that I dreaded most about giving birth this time, she was gentle and talked me through it so I was calm.
I was 4cm and was told to head back home until I got further along. Went home and still the team checked in regularly with me. Once my contractions started to be 5 mins apart I informed them and they told me to come in. Only to be checked and I was still only 4cm. A little disheartening but after that check, the contractions started coming on even faster and more strong. All the while I had encouragement from the whole team. Before I knew it I was in the bath, and when I got checked I was 9cm and at this point in labor, you honestly feel like you can't go on any longer but having my husband and Taanie Sheereen encouraging me on and my faith in the almighty, I pushed on and then it was actually time to push.
There was Taanie Henelie and Mase as the midwives present and Taanie Henelie asked who I would like to deliver my Baby, Mase is just as brilliant as anyone on the team but I wanted it to be Taanie Henelie and so we pushed. I say "we" because in that time we all literally working together to get this baby out. My first pregnancy and labor I screamed like a Banshee, this time round I think I cried out once or twice and then I was directed to remain calm and concentrate on the task at hand. With the help of the most amazing birthing team my second son was born via water birth at 17:16 Saturday, 27 August. Compared to my first birth in a hospital which was so clinic this was like going on holiday to the Maldives. Yes I just compared giving birth to a tropical holiday. Because it truly was. And only made possible by the almighty ofcourse, through the help of the Blissful Birth team. I am forever grateful to them for this experience.
Please keep up this amazing work that you guys do and keep helping mums achieve what it is they want out of their birth plans.
