Warranty does not cover equipment.

I received a voucher for Blingstallation when I purchased my DSTV Explorer, The voucher was for the installation of the dish and to connect the DSTV. This voucher came with a 1 year warranty on the equipment. needless to say the signal went out on the DSTV and I phoned Blingstallation to come and have a look, I was told if they found a fault on the equipment it was covered by the warranty and no call out fee would be charged. When the technicians came out to have a look they found that the arm was slightly bent to a degree and that I needed a new dish and that it was not covered by the warranty. So what does the warranty actually cover???<br> it seems that the warranty only covers a fault that is caused by the installer. I was charged for a new dish and the call out fee.

Hello NLamberti,

Thank you for raising your concerns on hellopeter.

There was no product defect or workmanship defect on your installation. The fault found at your home yesterday by the Technician confirms that there was an external physical force which caused the LNB arm of your satellite dish to bend. This type of damage is not covered by your warranty, hence the Technician provided a replacement satellite dish kit to you at an additional cost.

It is unreasonable for any supplier to replace a product under warranty where the damage is related to physical abuse or an external influence which is beyond the accountability of the supplier and installer.

We replace various components on a daily basis to customers nationally in SA under warranty and we assure you that if your installation had a fault which is related to product defect or workmanship negligence, then the service will be comprehensively covered under your warranty.

We are unable to identify who or what caused the arm on your sat dish to bend. We implore you to review if you had anyone working close to your sat dish or had access to cause such damage to it.

Kind Regards
