They really dont care...

I bought the platinum installation voucher from Makro, called their call centre waited a comfortable 15 minutes to be told that all the times I would be available to oversee the installation cannot be catered for. I had to arrange for a family member to be at my home when it suited them. Fine. The installation was carried out by an unfriendly but professional team at additional cost for a larger dish (which I accept) several days after contacting the call centre. I had issues with the signal, and was advised by the blingstallation that there was a bandwidth problem and that a call to multi-choice would solve the problem and I could avoid a call out fee of R450.00. After an extensive call with multi-choice I was advised to reset factory settings which resulted in complete loss of signal and was advised to get an accredited installer involved. I found one nearby for a call out fee of R250.00 that could assist me at a time convenient for me. Turns out the Smart LNB that blingstallation installed was faulty, they replaced it immediately (for R950.00) and my setup is working 100%. Feeling a bit hard done by at the extra cost which I had to incurred (which I accept I made the decision to pay to avoid a one week queue) I called blingstallation to find out that I have been caught out by a T’s&C’s that their warrantee falls away if anyone else tampers with their installation. While I feel that un*****ing a few cables and removing an LNB is hardly tampering (the device is fully sealed). It turns out that my ambitions to have the faulty LNB replaced (not recover any money) are unrealistic. Well done blingstallation for successfully covering yourselves and your apathetic staff with T’s&C’s. They hold up and I give up. Hopefully my little rant will prevent at least one more person from being exposed to an unreasonable company that doesn’t care for its paying customers.

Thank you for sharing your concerns and experience with us. We are sorry to hear that you have paid for a replacement LNB with another supplier at a cost which is clearly excessive considering that the Multichoice Recommended Retail for a Smart LNB is R450.

If you booked your service request with our call centre subsequent to you resetting your decoder as outlined in your complaint, we would have replaced your LNB under your 1-year warranty if it was indeed defective. You have however opted to use another installer who overcharged you R500 for this device.

Your installation was successfully completed on 8 February 2016 and the job card signed confirming that the installation was 100% working. We cannot comment on what caused your setup to stop working or your LNB to likely become defective in lieu of you not following through with a service call to our company.

It is an industry norm for a warranty to be void if the installation is tampered with other than by the installer who completed the installation.

Customer who use our services for warranty service calls will testify to the benifts of having their defective components (LNB's) replaced under warranty at no cost to the customer.

Kind Regards
