Cancellation of warranty / invoicing + bad service

Blingstallation installed an Explora on a deal bought through Makro in November 2015. in January 2016 we called them for a repair as we were having trouble viewing DSTV on our Extra View Decoder. It took three changes of appointments before they came out to attend to the service call.
After 5 minutes we were informed that it was a setting problem. I stated that we do not know the settings therefore how can they be changed. We were then given one reason after the other to justify billing us the R 450.00 call out fee.
I refused to sign or pay and our warranty was summarily suspended by the technician Vernon who claimed to be a shareholder as well.
I then reported the matter to DSTV who were shocked at this conduct and how an accredited installer can treat their customer.
After a couple of days we experienced problems again. We then went into DSTV who tried for three hours to correct the problem. Two new decoders later they came out to assist.
It was found that on the original installation there was a cracked cable and a fitting which should have been spotted and replaced.
This all could have been averted by a telephone support call to the technician we were informed.

Hello LesRoz,

Thank you for raising your complaint on hellopeter which allows us to address the concerns herein;

1. We have in fact honored our warranty to you by attending to your service request on 25 January 2016. This is confirms beyond reasonable doubt that we do indeed value our customers and honor all warranty commitments.
2. It was established on 25-01-2016 that there was no fault on the installation or components supp**** from our company to you and the fault was related to a software upgrade on your decoder which reset your decoder settings. This therefore was a billable service call. You refused to pay for services rendered to you.
3. We are unaware of the problem you refer to in your complaint on cracked cable and fitting. Our records confirm that we did not supply or install any cabling for you.
4. It is impossible for a Technician to diagnose over the phone that you have a software problem on your decoders or a cracked cable and fitting therefore a Technician needs to be dispatched for this purpose.

It is regrettable and unfortunate that customers take to hellopeter complaints when they are in fact aware that the service provider is in fact not wrong or derelict of support.
