If I could give Birnam a minus 1 rating I would do so. In 1995 I completed a Hotel Management diploma at their Corlett Drive location. Fast forward more than 22 years later, I contacted them to obtain a copy of my diploma. With so many back-and-forth emails from a very unprofessional individual (I say this because I still have no actual name just "Verification Officer"), I received this response yesterday:

I am so sorry -there is nothing you can do. As we are registered with the DHET- we are required to keep records for 5 years. However we have kept hard copies of diplomas, certificates and statements of results from 1996 . We do not have a copy of your documents

To say that I am shocked at their lack of record-keeping, is an understatement. As they didn't deliver any kind of service for the fee I paid, I asked them to refund my R650. This was the response I received:

I have been searching for your certificate for weeks now - that is the amount you paid for R650, for search.

I am very very sorry, but there is no refund.

It is hard for me to say this as I always valued them as a company, but they have disappointed me tremendously. This company clearly is a ***** and not an educational institution like they claim to be.
