Bill Buchanan Home Association for the Aged

This is now my second time complaining about Bill Buchanan Home Association for the Aged. So my mother is a resident at Arcadia since 1 March 2022. She has been staying there for 3,5 months. On Thursday she was handed a notice stating that her rent is increasing by R120 a month from 1 July 2022. When I was notified of this by my mother, I phoned and spoke to a lady named Caroline (who has no manners and actually doesn't care about the people living in Arcadia. She has a terrible attitude towards people) and was advised that when people come for their interview to move in they are advised that rent increases every year in July, which is understandable if you've been living in the home for a year, but my mother has been there for 3.5 months and is now being asked to pay more money. Also, I'm quite sure that this should be added in writing to your contract that you sign, which it isn't. All the tenants that live in her block have discussed their monthly payments with each other and here is the kicker....They all pay R1 100.00 a month for rent. My mother pays R1 330.00 a month. So she is already paying more than everyone else but is still expected to pay more after only being there for 3.5 months. I find that Bill Buchanan Homes is really just digging for money where ever they can at this point. As mentioned my mother already pays more than everyone else in her block and now they expect her to pay more, knowing full well that she is on a SASSA pension. To all who intend on looking at putting their parents into retirement homes, please look properly so that you don't get ******** out of money by places like this.
