Bike Market. Poor customer service

I was wondering if I should do this post or not. And decided to do it after all. Buying a bicycle lately is VERY expensive. And being someone that have sold some of my own and ALWAYS made sure the bike I sell is in tip top and serviced condition. I was reluctand to buy a bike, but was really looking for a dual susspension and noticed the ad from Bike Market, who offered a serviced and ready to ride bike. I do not trust people and it was good to find a company who advertise the serviced and ready to ride second hand bikes. I saw a Large frame dual susspension carbon bike I really liked. I made the online payment and fetched the bike from Bike Market when payment reflected in their account a day or two later.

I got home and took the bike for a quick ride. The gears was doing "ghost shiftting" from the get go. After about 3km I returned home and took the bike to my local bike shop to help adjust the gears and shifting. They told me the complete drive train was totally worn out. And the front shock made some funny noises. I phoned Bike Market and was told to return the bike so they can have a look. Luckily they replaced the chain, cluster and chainring. The front shock was fixed according to them. It felt stiff again and the noise was gone. A friend of mine collected the bike. I took the bike for a 35km ride the following day. The shock was performing poorly and the noise was back. Not trusting the mechanics at Bike Market after it was firstly sold with a serviced and ready to ride, just to find out it was not and secondly after the bike was returned to them they told me the shock was fixed now, I took the bike to my local bike shop to have a propper service done. I was shocked to find the front shock seals was very old and hard and the shock was completely dry. The rear shock was completely dry as well. Both wheel bearings was worn out to a state they had to be replaced. I paid for this to be fixed by my local bike shop. I received the bike back and asked them to do a bike fit for me. They told me the bike was too small for my length, I need a XL bike. I now had a bike that was in a propperly serviced condition. Which I paid for after buying a bike that was supposed to have been in a serviced ready to ride condition. I sadly took my bike home and parked it. I decided it will be best to sell the bike which was a L frame and get a XL. I searched the internet and found a bike at Bike Market which was about the same price as the one I bought from them. I contacted them and told them I did only 35km with the bike on the new drive train. And after that the bike was taken to the bike shop and propperly serviced. So, the bike was now truly in a serviced and ready to ride condition and if they would be willing to do an exhange for the XL frame bike which was the same price. I was shocked with the reply that they will offer me R10 500 less than I paid for the bike at them less than a month ago. I was willing to take the bike to them so they can inspect the bike to confirm the tip top condition the bike was in. Obviously I was not willing to to sell my bike back to them at such a reduced price and do the exhange. And I susspect the other bike would not be in a serviced and ready to ride condition either. I do not say to other people looking to buy that they should not buy from Bike Market. This is my experience and they have lost a returing customer for sure. My reccommendation to other people can therefore be nothing other than the experience I have shared here.

Still looking for the other bike.... sadly, not with Bike Market.
