Outdated systems not geared for frequent travelers – Digital failure

I am a frequent business traveler that arranges my travel bookings electronically via a travel agent. The travel agent I use issues vouchers for the Bidevest lounge to ensure I can arrive in advance for my departure and catch up on last minute business errands. On previous visits to the lounge, I had an option to email my voucher to the reception staff as I believe in this day and age paper passed system are a thing of the past including a push towards green IT. On the 3rd of December 2016, I had booked a business trip to Europe. After standing in an hour long queue at passport control, I was looking forward to relaxing at the Bidvest lounge and concluding last minute business correspondence. I had arrived at the Bidvest lounge 2 hours prior to departure and presented my electronic voucher to the reception staff. I was told that electronic vouchers were no longer accepted including emails as staff email had been revoked from all staff members except management and that the manager on duty had left for the day and I was refused entry to the lounge. You would expect the following from such a large organization;

An electronic voucher system with barcoding
A mechanism to correspond electronically e.g. Email

Delegation of authority in the absence on the manager

Such a shame that Bidvest has an outdated system that cant keep up with today’s Digitalized world. I wonder what processes and systems the other Bidvest entities use and what their drive is to save on paper including other green IT policies. Poor service due to a basic process change going back to the cave man days.
