Toyota Mc Carthy Paarl - do not trust the spares dept staff - they lie to you and rob you of your money

My son bought a car part in November 2023 from Toyota Mc Carthy in Paarl. The part had never been in his possession. While Toyota was ordering it, my son cancelled the order and asked for a refund. He personally drove to Toyota and spoke to someone, but unfortunately did not take the person's name. This person, an employee of Toyota, told him that he should just send him a copy of the payment slip, a copy of his ID, and proof of his bank details and then they would refund the money for him.

He called them on the 19th of March 2024 and spoke to Sipho. Sipho would have forwarded the details to their head office but to this day they never came back. When we called Sipho again he had a very different story, saying the transaction was done in Nov and we can't expect a refund now, but we have been phoning from November to March trying to get this refund. I then asked him to put me through to their manager and he said he called me back in 30 min. Then Ronald called me with a very arrogant attitude. He told us we could not expect our money back after 3 months, even though we never even had this part in our possession. I am fed up with this and will ensure to spread the word that Toyota cannot be trusted and that people should be careful not to be ****med like this by Toyota. This is shocking, very disappointing to say the least! Toyota was always a trusted brand, but now I am of a different view. JW Adonis

Dear Val,

We would like to address the concern you raised about our dealership.

As per our records, the customer purchased front bumpers for his vehicle from us in November 2023. These bumpers were specially ordered from Toyota SA upon his request and arrived at our dealership shortly after. Our parts advisor contacted the customer to inform him that the parts were ready for collection.
However, despite our follow-up attempts, the customer failed to collect the parts. It is the customer's responsibility to inform the dealership within the notice period if he is no longer interested in the parts . In February 2024, the customer requested to cancel the order, which was over 60 days after the parts arrived.
We would like to clarify that our invoice clearly states that specially ordered parts are not returnable after three days. At the time of purchase, the customer was provided with a copy of the invoice.

We regret that we are not authorized to refund the customer.
The parts are paid for, and the customer has the right to collect them from our dealership.

We always strive to provide excellent service to our customers, but in this case, it is a breach of our policy and beyond our scope.
Please be assured that our business operates ethically and upholds our principles.
We apologize that we are unable to assist you further at this time.

Best Regards,
Bidvest McCarthy Toyota
