I am rather disappointed with the service I received Mccarthy Toyota Durban North Dealership.

My first visit was last week Thursday when i seen a used 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross XI . I took the vehicle for a test drive and was pleasently pleased with it, and with my current vehicle as a trade in I was offered 210k, it was after further investigations I found that it would be better that I opt to purchase a new vehicle.

I visited a few dealerships and found various pricing and models.

This morning (29/12,2023) I called Mccarthy Toyota Durban North and dealt with Sane, arranged to offer the same trade in value as the used cars was offering me against a new vehicle , I was excited and I left my business to close the deal as she requested I come down with my current vehicle and paperwork.

When I got to the dealership, the consultant Sane was out on lunch and I waited about 20 minutes for her return. On her return Sane took me to the used cars Sales Manager Sipho who then denied offering Sane the amount of 210k as trade in against a new of a new vehicle.

This occurred around mid day and since leaving the dealership dissatisfied and disappointed. As I left I told the Sales person Sane to address the issue and get back to me. , suddenly the Sane's cellphone broken and was not able to take my calls? I requested to speak to the new car Sales Manager who was out of office , Dealer Principle was not available, so there was no one available to contacted me after numerous calls requesting someone to provide me with feedback.

The dealership refused to contact me with a resolution after numerous calls and what's app messages to the Sales Person. Due to this, I lost clients to other suppliers as well has income based on the what was offered to me.

I want to take this matter to the Obudman to further investigate.

Regards Disappointed Client.

Good day,  Retesh

Thank you for bringing your concern to our attention.
Upon your visit, you showed interest in the Toyota Cross. May we clarify that we offered you the said amount for your trade-in as part of our deal, and was only applicable if you bought the pre-owned vehicle at our dealership. However, you decided to buy elsewhere.
Please note that the pre-owned trade and new vehicle trade operate differently. The pre-owned business allows for overtrade, which is why we were unable to offer the same terms for the new vehicle.

Due to the holiday season, many of our employees, including our sales manager and dealership principal, have taken leave, which is why they were unable to return your call. However, they have already communicated with you to confirm the same.

We apologize for any misunderstandings.

Best Regards,
Bidvest McCarthy Toyota
