Safety Hazard & Refusal to Repair - ***i Toyota 2.8 GD6 (LR 76 CV GP)
I am filing this formal complaint regarding my 2024 Toyota 2.8 GD6 (***i), registration LR 76 CV GP, purchased in October 2024 for R700,000.
I have reported a serious issue with the reverse camera, which has been faulty since the first months of ownership. My salesman, Ashley, advised the workshop of the issue and even admitted himself that the camera quality is not even close to a standard Toyota camera. It is extremely blurry and provides almost no visibility.
The workshop is currently refusing to replace it, claiming that "it works" just because an image appears. This is a R700,000 vehicle; a "blurry" image is not a functioning safety feature—it is a hazard that can cause an accident. I expect the camera to function like new, as per the guarantee of a 2024 model.
Furthermore, I still suspect this vehicle was in an undisclosed accident. I have repeatedly asked for the following and have been ignored:
The Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) Checklist
The Roadworthy Certificate/Checklist
Required Action:
Immediate Replacement: The workshop must replace the faulty/blurry camera with a standard, high-quality unit.
Full Disclosure: I want the PDI and Roadworthy documents delivered to me immediately.
