Poor service

I am writing as a highly frustrated and disappointed customer regarding the handling of my vehicle repair by Toyota Bidvest Centurion.

My vehicle was taken to Toyota Bidvest Centurion around October last year for a gearbox repair, arranged through Precision. I was assured that the installation would be completed by December.

On 2 January, I followed up and was informed that the required parts had been received, but that staff members were on leave and work would commence the following week once they returned. On 9 January, I followed up again and was told that the vehicle would be worked on during that week.

When I followed up on 12 January, I was then informed that they were waiting for an additional part that had not yet been delivered. Shortly thereafter, I received another call advising that the gearbox that had supposedly been received was in fact incorrect.

This raises serious concerns, as it is unclear what work, if any, was being done since December when I was repeatedly informed that the gearbox had been received and installation was pending.

I have now been advised that the correct gearbox will only be received in March. On 23 January, I was promised a return call after the matter was discussed with management, including the possibility of being provided with a pool vehicle. As of today, 31 January, I have received no follow-up or communication whatsoever.

This matter has been ongoing since October, with continuous delays, inconsistent information, and extremely poor communication. To further compound the issue, Precision, the company that delivered the vehicle, has also failed to communicate adequately.

The level of service I have received is unacceptable. I request urgent feedback, clarity on the status of my vehicle, and confirmation of what remedial steps will be taken to address this prolonged inconvenience.

Dear Ndivhuwo,

Thank you for reaching out and sharing your concerns with us. We understand your frustration and would like to clarify our role in this matter.

As the designated repair center, we are responsible solely for the repair work as instructed by the panelbeater managing your vehicle's restoration. Unfortunately, we do not have control over the procurement of parts or the timelines associated with their delivery. The parts in question were ordered through Toyota South Africa, and their availability and delivery schedules were communicated directly to the panelbeater overseeing the process.

We recommend addressing your concerns regarding delays or communication directly with the panelbeater, as they are the primary point of contact for this matter.

We sincerely regret any inconvenience this situation has caused and assure you that we remain committed to completing the repair work as soon as all necessary parts are made available to us.

Best regards,
Bidvest McCarthy Toyota
