On 4 Nov 2024 I took my vehicle for a 290 000 service and this is after vehicle had shown a filter light Yesterday, 27 Nov 2024 the same light was back on, on a long trip to EC. We had to change the filter in Riverdale. Web informed Toyota @N1 City and they claimed dirty fuel might have cause the clogg! Really now! After 3 weeks of a service though!

Dear Maureen,

Thank you for reaching out and sharing your experience with us. We understand your frustration and would like to provide some clarity regarding the situation with your fuel filter.

The fuel filter is designed to protect your engine by trapping impurities and debris from the fuel. However, it can become blocked if contaminated fuel is introduced into the system. There are a few potential reasons why this might occur:

If the fuel you received during your trip was contaminated, it could have led to the filter becoming clogged. This is unfortunately beyond our control, as fuel quality can vary between stations.
Given the recent heavy rains in the Eastern Cape, there is a possibility that water may have entered the fuel supply at some stations. Water in the fuel can cause the filter light to activate.
During colder months, fuel may contain additives like wax to improve performance. These additives can sometimes lead to filter issues if they accumulate.

We recommend ensuring that fuel is sourced from reputable stations to minimise these risks. If you continue to experience issues, please feel free to contact us for further assistance. We are committed to ensuring your vehicle operates smoothly and efficiently.

Thank you for your understanding.
