My fault for not assisting... not!!!
On the 13th March 2020,I bought a 2017 Toyota Fortuner 2.8gd6 auto from Toyota Hatfield. Signed the e contract and where granted a deal through Toyota Financial services wherby I should pay a deposit of R38900. I went to Satndard bank where I was approved for the loan and all proof were send to the sales lady whereby she needed to send some documentation through to std bank. On the following Tuesday I left for business in Capetown. Standardbank had issues as I only had a temp ID at that stage and I informed the saleslady that I would pay the deposit out of my salary and just to keep the car for me. In the interim the national lockdown was anounced due to the Covid 19 epidemic and we were on a flight back to Jhb late on the eve of the 25th March. Wilma the saleslady told me that she wouldnt be in on the 25th but that I should make an arrangement with the sales manager Rishaad regarding my car. I took out a credit card from FNB for R44 000 and kept the money in the credit card as to pay the deposit on my vehicle on my return as our pay date is only the 1st thus will be after lockdown. I phoned several times on the 25th to Rishaad the sales manager and left messages and even try to get hold of Mr Holland the DP which were at the head office or Kempton park.... at one stage I got hold of Rishaad's cell nr and w apped him, left voicenotes and phoned him(I will gladly send through my call records etc) At one stage he answered the phone and said "I am in a F$%@^n meeting, call me later". Yet no phone call at all... on the 26th I arrived at the dealership at closed doors just to learn they already closed the previous day (25th) for lockdown and all my efforts where in vain. I had to rent a car due to the fact that I couldnt get my own car and spend more than R13k during that period. With the Covid 19 we received a mail from head office stating that due to the covid 19 (I work in the hospitallity industry) the payroll lady contracted the virus and we should expect delays in our salaries. A follow up email stated that we would only be receiving 25% of our salaries as during the covid period levels 5-3 no airbnb or hotels may be operational, keeoing this in mind I dropped from taking home R60 per month to R15k per month and that we should try and make arrangements with the companies and places that we owe money. I contacted Toyota Financial services and were granted payment relief for a 3 month period. In the meantime i kept on paying my insurance on the vehicle even while I didnt took delivery of the vehicle. When the dealerships were allowed to open under level 4/3 I tried to make an arrangement with the dealership to pay of the deposit amount as with the salary capped I needed to use some of the money that I keot in my Fnb credit card for the deposit as surely I couldnt let my family starve or be kicked out of the place that we stay for not paying ? The dealership told me that they are going to uplift the deal with me pleading just to give me a chance as I as a client can't surely be hold responsible for the Covid 19 epidemic. I went from bank to bank to try and obtain a loan for the R38500 deposit but all said I was overcommited as clearly my salary of R15k currwntly couldnt even carry all my debt. I went to a loanshark to borrow the money with extremely high interest but I did that and send the proof of approval to tge saleslady. In the meantime the saleslady explained to me that currently I have a contract with the bank and a commitment to the bank but nothing with the dealership anI could only pay something towards the deposit it gives me a binding contract between me and the dealership. I took my last R500 and paid it over while I am waiting for the money I borrowed. The next moment I started getting threats that the deal will be uplifted and they have another buyer for the car etc and if the deal is uplifted I will be flagged and never be abled to buy a car again. With my current salary capped I will not qualify for vehicle finance and am borrowing a friends car at the moment but he needs it back month end. Without a car I will be stripped from earning an income and therefore all of my livelyhood as well. On the day I signed the contract there were a bunch of value added services added to the vehicle like key guard, body or paint guard, tyre guard and a few others as well that I didn't ask for but the sales lady said to me that for the next few years I dont need to worry about nothing and if they need to request a new contract they will only receive it the following week (I signed on a Friday late afternoon, and left the following day to Capetown). The car was R385 000 and the bank paid out R396 000 already in March to the dealership with almost R40k worth of value added services. Meaning that the sales price of my car was acctually paid I even begged them to maybe just remove the value added services, that I didnt even asked for they just showed me the door. I even asked them if I cant oay it off as from August we return to our normal salary curv which is R60k but the DP just told me that they are not a bank sorry (I have all in writing). It is financial year end for the dealership,so they would rather pay back R396 000 to Toyota financial services then to try and accomodate a client that have been hit like so many other by the epidemic? They would rather ruin someones livelyhood by uplifting the deal? I am not even sure what Toyota financial services will feel if they know a client have been paying and then having a payemnt relief put in place without even ever having took delivery of the vehicle as well as all insurance up to date... plus how can they just uplift the deal if the car is already titled in my name without me even signing anything ? I cant help to feel that Rishaad the sales manager have a personal vendetta against me.
Is this how Bidvest Mcarthy treats its clients ? Every where you are against the fight of the Covid 19 virus and being there for its clients? I can't believe that an enormous company of statue give so less about the clients that they widely advertise.
All I ask,NO I am begging to help me,it is unpresedented teritory for us all,all I ask is to help me to be able to work and keep my car PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE...
