Complaint Regarding Sudden Price Increase and Unprofessional Conduct at Bidvest McCarthy Toyota Midrand

I am writing to formally express my disappointment regarding my recent experience with Bidvest McCarthy Toyota Midrand.

I found a vehicle listed by your dealership on AutoTrader for R259,900. After contacting your salesperson to confirm the price, he verified that this was indeed the correct amount. However, as we began discussing finalizing the deal, the salesperson consulted his manager, who unexpectedly changed the price to R289,900—a R30,000 increase within just 30 minutes of my expressing interest in purchasing the vehicle.

When I requested to speak with the manager to discuss the rationale for this sudden price change, I was denied the opportunity. The refusal to address my concern personally left me feeling that there is a lack of integrity in this branch’s operations. Fortunately, I had taken screenshots to document the price before it was altered.

I trust that as a reputable dealership, you take customer feedback seriously and uphold ethical practices. I would appreciate an explanation for this incident, as well as confirmation of the steps your team will take to prevent similar situations in the future.
