Brand New Car – Factory Fault & No Proper Support

I recently purchased a brand new vehicle from Toyota Gezina and my experience has been extremely disappointing......

While travelling more than a week ago, I stopped to refuel in the middle of the night, only to discover that the fuel flap would not open.....For a brand new vehicle, this is unacceptable and it's definitely a factory fault....

I contacted Toyota Road Assistance and the consultant was rude and unhelpful during an already stressful situation.....

The dealership advised that a cable needed to be ordered and that repairs would take 5 days....It has now been more than 5 days and the vehicle is still not fixed. I was not offered a courtesy car despite being unable to use a vehicle I am paying for...

Communication has been poor , I am repeatedly told someone will call me back, but this does not happen....

Buying a new car should be a positive experience. Instead, I have been left inconvenienced and disappointed...

 Dear Kgahliso,

Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention.
We are truly sorry to hear about your experience and greatly appreciate your patience throughout this process.

Unfortunately, the delay was caused by the need to order the part from the original equipment manufacturer (OEM). We can now confirm that the part has been delivered, and the repair will be completed today.
While external factors contributed to the delay, we acknowledge that our communication during this time could have been better. We sincerely apologise for not keeping you adequately updated.

We are actively reviewing our processes to ensure improved communication and to prevent similar inconveniences in the future.
Thank you for your understanding, and we apologise once again for the situation.

Best regards,

Thank you for your response, Bidvest McCarthy Toyota.

I acknowledge that the repair has now been completed and I appreciate that the matter has been resolved.

However, I would like to emphasise that the main concern was not only the delay in receiving the OEM part, but the overall experience.

The fuel flap fault occurred while I was travelling at night, which placed me in a very stressful situation....For a new vehicle, this was both unexpected and unacceptable.

I trust that going forward, the vehicle will reflect the high standards associated with Toyota.
