Bad Service attitude ay Toyota Midrand
Booked my Land Cruiser for a service and clutch change two days in advance to ensure work to be done on time as I use my LC for work. When I arrived I was informed that the work requires two days, which I was not told when booking, and for which is did not make provision as I required my LC the following day for work. The attitude from the service people was TAKE IT OF LEAVE IT, no real service there. I wonder what happens on the inside were they service the car if this is their attitude. I left it and they will not see me again. It is clear that service in South Africa, and from a company who so called prides them on good service, is no more its is just TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT.

30 Oct 2025, 09:02Dear Sean,
Thank you for bringing your concern to our attention. We understand your frustration and would like to clarify why the work could not be completed on the same day.
All standard parts required for vehicle services, such as filters, spark plugs, wiper blades (etc.), are available at our workshop. These parts are booked out upon the arrival of your vehicle, and the service is performed accordingly.
However, special order parts are not kept in our stock inventory due to factors such as low demand, space limitations, and the fact that some parts are unique to specific models. When our customers request special order parts, we first inspect the vehicle upon its arrival to confirm that the part or component in question is faulty. We then order the part from the OEM, which may take a day or two to be delivered, depending on availability. We do not pre-order these types of parts, especially if we haven't seen the vehicle, as these parts are often non-returnable.
We sincerely apologise if you felt that our team did not provide you with more assistance at that time; it was simply beyond their control. We understand that you were pressed for time, and we should have communicated more clearly that your vehicle would not be ready on the same day.
Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused. We will ensure better communication in the future to keep our customers informed about our procedures and the time required for their vehicle repairs.
Best regards,
Bidvest McCarthy Toyota

04 Nov 2025, 13:57Thank you for the replay, but it is not accepted. Firstly, as indicated there was a total lack of proper communication when I booked the vehicle and I specified my requirements. I have been driving for more than 40years and this is not my first service and not my first clutch to be changed. It is however the first time that I am informed that a Toyota service department needs more than one day to do a clutch change due to parts not availed within the day. This means the whole of Toyota service standards have declined in relation to past experience. It is clear that profit and cost cut stumps service in South Africa when dealing with Bidvest McCarty Toyota. It seems the customer must beg and just except that we as customers just get what, you are give, or go somewhere else. Message received from me I will not visit and Bidvest McCarthy Toyota again. I have however learned that bad service usually comes back to bite,
