Automark selling salvaged cars as quality second hand cars

<div>I bought a Toyota Raider double cab online from Automark under the Woodmead Toyota branch in February 2023. I paid cash full. The salesman was ******* *****. He vouched that the bakkie was in impeccable condition, he said the previous owner only added mileage, everything was in super good condition. I wanted to travel to Gauteng to assess the vehicle myself but he always discourage me by saying the vehicle is gone for minor repairs like dent removal or seat repair or tyre changing. Long story short when the vehicle was delivered there were multiple issues with it: thermostat not working, this Aircon .not working, radiator burst, steering controls not working. Clutch noisy on rev 1000 - 2000 rpm. Rear tyres worn out. Later on I discover front bumper is held by clue and *****s when the glue came off and I inspected the bumper closely only to find *****s at the bottom. All these issues were reported to ******* and his immediate supervisor but they never responded in writing! They only fixed the thermostat and the radiator only. The other problems persist; and they now claim I must have bumped the car! Lesson is stay away from Woodmead Automark cars, they sell salvaged and accident damaged cars under the pretence they are good second hand cars.bThey using the Toyota brand the run their dirty business</div>

 Dear Nyokong,

Thank you for bringing your concern to our attention.
We would like to inform you that as per the SANS and National Traffic Act, it is a legal requirement to have all pre-owned vehicles inspected and certified as roadworthy before they are sold to clients. In case any faults are found during the roadworthy test and the vehicle fails, the seller is responsible for fixing the issues and returning the vehicle to the roadworthy center to be cleared and deemed roadworthy. This is a non-negotiable standard that we always adhere to.

Upon delivery, despite the high mileage, the vehicle you purchased from us was up to standard. However, later on, you claimed that there were issues with the vehicle, and as a courtesy, we offered to refund you if you returned the vehicle, which you rejected. Unfortunately, nearly a year later, you have decided to complain about the condition of the vehicle without any supported warranty plan.

We assure you that we take the quality of our vehicles seriously, and we follow the strictest measures to ensure that our customers receive their vehicles in a safe and driveable condition at all times.

Thank you for your understanding.

Best Regards,

Reviewer Update
This a just another big public relations exercise to save face. I named a branch of Bidvest McCarthy and the people I dealt with. But here the company is just protecting the brand name. And then they shamelessly lie about offering to refund me which I rejected!
They claim the car was in perfect condition on delivery and I only complained a year later. They are just as dishonest as the branch salesman I dealt with. I complained from the first month and it took me 6 months to force them to take action. They are devious, they never responded in writing, Clement ignored my WhatsApp messages, instead he would call me from the landline. His direct supervisor ignored my emails. None the less I still got enough email trail to show unhappiness and frustration I had from the beginning.
Then Bidvest McCarthy espouses roadworthy testing as a guarantee if vehicle health! This is a fallacy as vehicle roadworthiness does not guarantee problem free motoring. This only indicates that a vehicle may be driven on SA roads. Not mentioning *******ible officials at these centres. And also there are levels of car rating, each with it's problems but as long as they are not roadworthy relevant, the vehicle will be passed.
I can go on and on but I don't want to engage a giant like Bidvest McCarthy, I was only complaining about the Woodmead branch and Clement Thejane and his manager. The did me bad. But then again there were red flags; they wanted cash and not finance through a bank!
The did not want me to see the vehicle in person before sale.
The vehicle had dents which they only fixed after I deposited my money.
Clement phoned the person at the pick-up branch who made me sign the papers before they brought the vehicle out for me to inspect. She assured me Bidvest Toyota don't buy "****" cars.
But as for them ever offering to refund me is a pathetic lie.
I can offer them to take the car back for free now, and only refund me what they can sell it off for.
But the BIG lesson here guys is steer clear from these online car sales, it is a big ****! Whatever happens you will still lose. They can't selloff the showroom floor so they resort to ****. And don't be pres ured into parting with your hard earned cash by the phrase that "it is in demand and they are reserving it only for you"; it's a catch phrase.
And don't ever pay cash for an online deals, insist on bank funding. They selling for cash because the cars are ****.
