Don't buy Mahindra

Mahindra South Africa & Mahindra The Glen — Unresolved Engine Fault, Two Months of Incompetence, Zero Response

I purchased a Mahindra 3XO AXL7 just over a year ago. The car currently has under 6 000km on the clock.

In June 2025 I noticed a ticking sound from the engine and took it to Mahindra The Glen. I was told the fault related to the intake camshaft and that it falls under a manufacturer campaign — meaning Mahindra already knew about this fault and I was never proactively informed.

I dropped my car off for repair on 13 July. Four business days in I was told the wrong part had been ordered and everything had to start over. I had taken a full week of leave from work because I had no vehicle. That week was wasted entirely.

My car was only returned to me on 25 July — two weeks after dropping it off. Within days I noticed the original ticking sound was still there. The fault was not fixed. I reported this to the dealership and received no callback.

I escalated to Mahindra South Africa via formal email. I followed up again the following week. I have received no response to either email. I called them twice in one day and was promised a callback both times. Nothing.

I have now visited the dealership approximately five times over two months. I have wasted personal leave. I have a car with a major engine fault that has not been resolved. And I have a manufacturer that has not responded to a single written complaint.

I will be lodging with MIOSA. I am sharing this publicly because other Mahindra owners deserve to know.
