Poor Service, Unreasonable Requirements & Call Dropped by Zama
I am extremely dissatisfied with the service received from Bidvest Insurance.
I submitted a claim with all the required documentation, including:
A detailed affidavit (signed in front of a Commissioner of Oaths) Comprehensive supporting photos All requested claim information
Despite this, I was told to submit a new affidavit because they “do not accept affidavits written by the claimant.” This is unreasonable, especially considering the affidavit was properly commissioned and legally valid. No proper explanation has been provided.
To add to the frustration:
* My vehicle has only 1,800 km on the clock * I submitted clear tyre tread photos along with a tread measurement device reading, proving the tyre is still essentially brand new *This evidence has been ignored without justification
When I called to get clarity:
I was assisted by a consultant named Zama admin claims department, who refused to provide her surname She refused to escalate the matter or transfer me to a manager The call was abruptly disconnected while I was still trying to resolve the issue
This level of service is unacceptable. Clients should not be forced to redo legally valid documents without proper reasoning, nor have clear evidence ignored.
I am requesting:
A clear, written explanation as to why my affidavit was rejected Confirmation of why my tyre evidence has been disregarded Immediate escalation to a competent manager Proper handling and progression of my claim without further unnecessary delays
This experience has been extremely frustrating and reflects poorly on your customer service standards.
My phone calls are also recorder and will take this matter further.

Endless back and forth, unnecessary delays, and poor communication. To make matters worse, a consultant from the admin claims department, Zama, dropped the phone in my ear when I tried to get clarity.
Only after all this frustration do I now get told I’ll be refunded… in 7–10 business days.
Let’s put this into perspective:
- I bought a new Audi S3 worth R1.3 million from a Bidvest dealership
- I took out three insurance products with them
- I paid R6,800 for tyre insurance
- My claim is only R3,600
- And because I claimed, I get no refund on the remaining cover
So effectively, I paid R6,800 for a R3,600 benefit — and had to fight to even get that.
After this experience, I asked to cancel my other two policies. I then requested clarity on what refund would go back to my financing house. The response?
They can’t tell me the refund amount unless I cancel first.
That alone raises serious concerns. You’re expected to cancel blindly, without knowing what you’re getting back.
This whole setup feels geared toward maximising profit while making it difficult to claim or exit.
My advice:
- Stay far away from Bidvest Insurance for these types of products
- Rather go with established insurers linked to the big banks
- Don’t make the same mistake I did
Very disappointing experience, especially considering the value of the vehicle and the level of cover taken.
