*****ed over

I purchased a vehicle in 2015 and took out body guard insurance, my premium got deducted from my bank account every month via EFT, I recently traded this vehicle in and phoned them to cancel it as I no longer needed the cover for this vehicle. The lady on the line advised that they actually cancelled this policy at the end of November 2021, no email or phone call but they still deducted the money every month. R134 over 12 months comes to quite a big amount and I feel it is right that they should refund this money since I would not have been covered should I have needed them. After emailing back and forth, it has become clear that they have no intention of refunding the money, I now have to provide a letter proving that the vehicle was paid off (which was already the case in 2020 - I no longer have access to these documents). Surely they would have a record that it was in fact cancelled in 2021 as was advised to me on the phone and they should know where my money went between then and now. I feel completely ****** and will not trust this company in future with any kind of insurance cover.
