Bidvest Scratch and Dent cover - BEWARE !!!!!!!!
UNLESS you have a brand new car with absolutely no scratch or dent (NOT EVEN 1) then this cover is not for you. They are in the business of not paying out!
My car is in immaculate condition!!! I had 1 small dent when taking out the policy. Just 1 tiny dent. I did notify them and asked if I should take the car in for an evaluation. NO, they said. Its not necessary. (Alarm bells should already be ringing right)
They rely on the following condition to avoid paying claims " When the Vehicle is brought in for repairs, you may not select to have repairs carried out on a certain damage, as all damage to the Vehicle will be taken into account when calculating the total cost of repair. The total cost of repairs shall not exceed the - Please, note the following: Maximum Indemnity amount R3500 (sic) per the type of damage inclusive of VAT". T/C 2 refers to all damages that occurred, not just the one the insured is claiming. Therefore all damages include 1) incidents prior to the date the cover was taken 2) damages you may not aware when they occurred for example a stone chip on your bonnet, roof etc. However the R3500 cover limit is applicable for all damages, irrespective of if they are pre-existing and you are excluding from damages relevant to term of the policy. blah blah blah, You get the point.
Bottom line, DONT TAKE OUT THIS COVER!!!! its just not worth it.
