Agents wasted my time proceeding with claims I did not qualify for

I made two claims under my Bodyguard Policy No: B ********** 579 for incidents that occurred 28 and 30 days after I had paid my first premium cause I was unaware of this clause.

I called IUA on 30 June 2017 and gave them the details of the incidents that occured on 28 and 30 June, they did not tell me not to even bother claiming because of the incidents occurred within 30 days of me paying the first premium. I know I am responsible for reading my policy to know that I cannot claim for but to be sent claim forms and being told to go get two quotations for the incidents although I was never covered for them really makes sickened by your service!.

The consultants asked for the details of my claims and they failed to tell me - "Sorry, you cannot claim because these incidents are within 30 days of your first premium". What are they there for??

Now I wasted my time and my money, going to get four quotations at two different panelbeaters!!! I am really disappointed at the service....it's sickening really!

Reviewer Update

Overall, I am really happy with the way Bidvest and IUA handled my complaint.

They responded to my complaint via email a day after I posted the complaint by explaining that my assessment was correct due to the 30-day waiting period. I then responded to their email saying that was never my complaint, but that we even reached an assessment stage seeing that I never qualified in the first place.

An agent then called me and apologised for the inconvenience caused. I reiterated what my complaint was to her and she assured me that the agents do follow the process I expected to be in place.

They have made up for the inconvenience that was caused by re-assessing and approving my claims. I am really happy, I am hopeful that they will handle customers with care and give us necessary information as early as possible in future.

I would like to thank them for this gesture because it does more than making up for my time and money, I am really satisfied with the quick correspondence and the care they have expressed in just a day of voicing my complaint.

I am now fully confident that I am cared for as a client.
