Not so great on ESG
On 24 February 2025 I sent the following email to Bidvest. Please could you arrange that the people who perform the leaf blowing have noise cancelling headphones and a face mask? The petrol fueled leaf blower is exceptionally loud. I find it loud living a couple of storeys off the ground floor. I cannot imagine how loud it must be for a person with a leaf blower on their back. It is bound to cause hearing loss over a period of time. Secondly, the leaf blower gives off petrol fumes. I am sure that breathing in the petrol fumes is not healthy. Please could you seriously consider my suggestions.

Noise cancelling headphones for construction and similar industries cost as little as R40 to R170. The cost of a dust face mask costs anywhere between R80 to R150. Take the most expensive options above and its more than what these gardeners earn in a day. Is their health not important? Or are they too far down the chain?
