Worst Rental Car Company
I booked and paid for a car through rentalcars.com some 6 months in advance (a Nissan Qashqai) for a trip last month. I specifically booked a large vehicle as we were traveling with our dog and had a significant amount of luggage.
On collecting the vehicle from Bidvest at Cape Town Intl., I was advised no Qashqais were avaliable (despite my booking) but alas they were upgrading me to a Toyota Avanza. I mean really - how ******** does Bidvest think it's customers are that they'll believe an Avanza is an upgrade when it's specifically listed under a different group with different rates?
Naturally, I threw my toys out of the cot, and eventually was reluctantly given a Rav4.
On hiring another car again through rentalcars.com this weekend, I booked and paid for a Ford Fiesta and was given a Toyota Etios (which I was told was of the same class). I collected the vehicle from Port Elizabeth Intl. and half way to Port Alfred, realised the aircon was not working, as such we had no aircon for the entire trip. Completely unacceptable considering we specially booked a vehicle with aircon. Certainly a breach of contract and a I am due a partial refund in this regard. I trust Bidvest will contact me to make the relevant arrangements and execute timeous refund.
Unfortunately I have already booked another vehicle in December. I would like personal email confirmation that the A3 I have booked will be avaliable for collection and I won't be yet again given some substitute. I would also like to specifically know what the 'similar' is in this class, as Bidvest seem to use this term rather loosely to their personal benefit.
