BUDGET/BIDVEST: DONT HIRE THEIR CARS!

On needing a car as mine was in for repairs, I found a small Hyundai I10 online for Tuesday through to Friday for R1300. On booking and the money being deducted I noticed I was charged R2000 and realised I hadnt gone in to read the 10,000 word fine print - my mistake? On collection Tuesday morning, I was asked to pay R13 500 deposit! But I was offered to pay an extra R100 per day and they would bring the deposit down to R3 400. I drove away and immediately noticed that the front seat was loose which affected how I could apply my foot to the accelerator and it squeaked constantly. On getting home, I contacted Rondebosch Budget/Bidvest and was informed that if they had to drive all the way through to me with another car and it wasnt as bad as I said it was, they would charge me. Obviously running out of money by this stage, I was too petrified to ask them to come and exchange. (When I returned the miserable car, they had changed their company name to Bidvest!?) I was then charged another R800 for km driven (If I travelled 200km it was a lot). And to add insult to injury, they still have not released my R3400 deposit. R700 a day for a squeaky Hyundai I10. Disgusting SHARKS!!!

Hello CAITLYN123,

We do humbly apologise for the inconvenience caused by all the confusion regarding the deposit and re-brand, further exacerbated by the seat being faulty, which is an unacceptable service failure.

The matter has been referred to our Senior Management Team who will be in touch to ensure it is resolved to your complete satisfaction! Thank you for giving us this opportunity to investigate.

Kind regards,
Renette van der Merwe
