Bidvest Ripping Customers Off!

Through my place of work I rented a car from Bidvest. I unfortunately received a R200 speeding fine during this time. Bidvest has charged me an administration fee of R250! to transfer the ticket to the responsible person, i.e. myself. R250!, R50 more than the traffic fine! After calling the contact centre I was simply told that this is their policy. I find it outrageous that the company can charge such absorbent admin fees and it is considered to be ok! South African's are being *****ed over by these big corporations! How can Bidvest possibly defend such unreasonable admin fees?

Hello faaiqah,

We clearly understand that the Traffic Fine Administration Fee may seem excessive when considering the amount of the fine in this instance.

Due to the increasing amount of traffic fines received monthly and as this is not our core business, all car rental companies charge an administration fee. We are governed by the law to provide the relevant traffic authorities with the details of the transgressor, including ID and address etc. The administration fee is however based on the amount of work involved with the re-direction, the IT development costs to automate some of these functions and the fact that Bidvest Car Rental remains responsible for the payment of the fine until such time as it has been successfully redirected. These fees are not recovered via our rental rates as not all our customers receive traffic fines and the challenge and cost thereof affects the entire car rental industry.

Faaiqah, your concerns are clearly understood and we want to assure you that Bidvest Car Rental is a reputable company who would not debit your credit card flippantly and only bill what is legally due.

Kind Regards
