Bad service

My son was involved in an accident whereby one of Bidvest Car rental's vehicles was involved. We have made contact with the claims department in Cape Town and a document was sent to us whereby certain information was requested. This was done.

It is more than a week later and we still did not receive a claim number, no telephone call, absolutely nothing!!!! Our vehicle is written off, but we cannot move it from the place where it is was towed to, as we assume the assessors would like to inspect it. I am also not prepared to pay the tow in fees or storage fees, as we were not guilty.

The service received from Bidvest Car rental's claims department is non existing!!! Do they want people involved in any accident with their vehicles to go the legal route? Is this the only option?

We do most sincerely apologise that we have not been in touch but want to advise that the process is not an instant one and there are procedures that have to be followed. Should you not have your own insurer and therefore an agent managing your claim, a legal option may be the next avenue to consider to ensure your interests are protected.
Claims and the settlement thereof can be really complex, once blame is debated and despite giving you the assurance that we would never delay matters of this nature intentionally, it may very well take some time.

The Customer Care Team

That vehicle is not insured. Your driver were not suppose to drive, she has mentioned that in her statement. Will speak to our company's legal department. This is the nonsense that I was talking about. You want to protect your interest only, you probably did not even read the police report. We had to buy another vehicle for a student that needs to get to his lectures.
So by the way, to register the claim cannot take two weeks, can it? There was an accident, I submitted my docs, the girls did so and left the country already, so by the way, they are from Germany. What is the issue?
Sorry, but your answer is excatly what I have experienced so far. You have actually said nothing!

The resulting inconvenience is sincerely regretted. All we are trying to do is not create an unrealistic expectation and if, as you mention, the customer was in breach of our terms and conditions, the matter becomes a little more complicated. Therefore we respectfully request that you afford us some reasonable time to evaluate and assess and we will be in touch.
We manage a fleet of 10 000 vehicles and we do understand your predicament but we believe in being transparent by not committing to a response that we are unable to support.

10 000 vehicles, that surely is not all at present involved in some or other claim, then something seriosly is wrong.
Your claim department surely has a section handling new claims only and are not involved in day to day management of vehicles and rentals? Do you really need more time just to allocate a claim number to it.
Sharon Tewitz received my paperwork on 14 March 2017 at 10h14am.
You tell me she needs more time to open a file and allocate a claim number to it?
Nobody was talking about expectation. We talking about service here!!!
