Worst experience with Bettersure
On Saturday 1 June our town was hit with a storm and my house got flooded and the boundary walls were broken down and inside my house my cupboards got severely water damaged as the water run straight through my home.. I reported the incident to the insurer on Sunday and the Monday someone was sent out to inspect. With in a week I got a call from the insurance saying they need to sent an internal assessor to assess since they suspect that the 1 person has quoted to high and for pre-existing damages. 2 weeks later - The internal assessor came to do an assessment. He walks through the property, taking pictures and taking measurements and asking questions. In the meantime, we had to put up fencing to keep our pets and the neighbours' pets separate. He submits his assessment. The insurance informed me that they have received 2 reports, and both are very different so they will send a 3rd person, by this time a month has already past and I was getting fed up with the back and forth with them, so they called me to explain why they are sending someone else. According to them the findings/quote from their own assessor were to high and they said some of the things they are not willing to pay for - pre-existing damages and/or poor workmanship. Ok so fast forward a week - The building engineer came to do his inspection. He notices the fence and tells me that the insurance doesn't cover fences and I explained to him that it is just a temporary fix to keep the animals in the respective yards. He continued to do his inspection. When I showed him the damages inside my house - bedroom cupboards that got wet and the foot plates are damaged due to it - Kitchen and bathroom was the worst with the water being knee high. he then informed me that he was just here for the walls - and it is in his companies name. I then continue to explain to him about the roof that was fixed last year October but with the storm it started leaking again and on different places and the ceilings are also damaged because of it and the water are running down the walls into the one cupboard damaging it more. he informed me that someone else must come out for the roof. The insurance did not sent someone else for the roof. Fast forward to 17 July I get an AOL from the insurance with a ridiculous low amount that wont even cover all the repairs for the walls since all the quotes we got was much higher than what they are offering to settle on. That amount is not even enough to fix the cupboards. There are a lot of damages due to the flood but they refuse to acknowledge that it was caused due to the flood. I have rejected them twice on the same AOL and every time the agents says that he has logged a complained for me and someone from the complains department will give me a call, but to today, nobody has contacted me. We are reaching the end of August my neighbours are waiting for my contribution to fix the wall between us, all the other properties in our street has been fixed, but ours still look like a war zone.

I would just like to give a big thank you to Sandile Bongo from 4-Sure for all his help and assistance during this time. With my previous post I was depleted and not sure what way to go since my claim was dragging for so long and no one could give me the proper answers, but he took over and we went through the claim step by step, explaining to me that the claim was divided into 3 sections. One section is declined but the other 2 was approved. This has been a difficult time and never have a thought it would take this long, but I really do feel I need to mention him since I got great service from him.
Thank you Sandile!!
