They will ghost you when it comes to submitting a claim

Our house was damaged by a major storm on the 7th of April 2024. Front walls blew over roof damage and no electricity for over a month. We submitted a claim to them and they sent out a 3rd party assessor a few days later.

They told us it could take up to 7 working days to assess the claim so we waited. This passed and they said they would need to send out an internal assessor and he would come within the week. Three weeks later still no one has contacted us or made an appointment. We repeatedly spoke to their call center and all they say is it's been escalated and someone will contact us but nothing happens.

We still have holes in our roof, no front walls or electricity a month after we submitted our claim, rain is coming and the damage is just getting worse...

Another Four weeks passed and only after posting online they finally sprung into action and suddenly wanted to settle the claim for a 10th of the price it would cost to fix it. Alternatively, they said we could use their approved contractors to fix the damage.

Since the settlement doesn't even cover the material to fix the damage we reluctantly agreed but said we would like a detailed list of what is approved and what is rejected. To this day there has been no response to that request.

Two weeks ago the contractor finally pitched only to say the insurance is not covering all the damages.

After the storm, the property had significant damage, including holes in the roof, no electricity, a bent and broken front gate and gate motor, collapsed and weakened perimeter walls, which pose a safety and security risks to the property!

I have had to rent temporary fencing, run generators for power so my renters could at least keep some lights on, fix some of the holes in the roof, get a tree felling company out to clear some of the damage, all costing me thousands all at my own expense while they twiddle their thumbs.

10 weeks after the claim we are still without power, without boundary walls, and extensive damage with no resolution.

Come on Bettersure...you can do better! If you're reading this can I please get an internal assessor to be sent out to assess the damage or do we have to go to the insurance ombudsman?
