******** deductions for life cover I did not consent to
I saw deductions from my account and did not know what it was for. I then realized this occurred for many months without my knowledge.
I app**** for a bank loan for a property purchase in October 2023. Although it was approved in principle, I never took it up and did not purchase the property.
Bettersure has me as having taken out a life cover against this mortgage, which I surely did not do. As I did not take up the mortgage and has a good life cover.
Somehow they placed me on their system and I am not sure how this even happened as I never consented. Was this an inside job between the bank, Bettersure, etc? How was my information shared with Bettersure and how was it even possible that this policy is apparently active without my consent.
Also, I am now told I can cancel it but would not be refunded. But, if i did not consent, if this policy exists after having opened it in my name without me knowing about it, deducting money from my account is surely *****ulent. I also cannot recall signing anything with the bank to allow this to go off automatically, yet it is.
I only realized this later, as I say, because i realized there is a cashflow problem.
A helpful person by the name of Jonathan assisted me, but I am waiting for more details - proof that I approved this; that I approved deduction of debit order; etc. It seems as if someone used my signature to enable this, and I need to get to the bottom of it, PLUS, have me refunded in full within 7 days (if I am indeed correct)
