Bettersure the biggest failure for home insurance
We have joined Bettersure since we purchased our home. Since January 2024 we have had 4 pipe bursts on the same pipeline. Every time we had to pay an excess fee. On the 28 of November we had the 4th burst. We have been without water to date. No one is calling us back with a definitive answer and the plot keeps thickening. We spoke to Karobo who said we won't be liable for another excess. We spoke to Charlton that we shouldn't pay another excess. They were baffled to hear that the claims were all reported on the same pipeline. The service provider was not transparent to inform them that the same pipeline has been faulty. The workers that come to detect the leak (Prince Plumbling) confirmed that the pipe will continue to burst if not rerouted. I will be lodging a complaint with NFOSA. I WILL NOT BE ****MED BY BETTERSURE.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. On behalf of the appointed service provider, we apologise for the poor workmanship that has resulted in multiple claims for the same pipe after your initial claim.
Please let us urgently investigate this claim's status to ensure that you get the right and final outcome on your latest claim. Our consultants will get back to you as soon as possible with the feedback.
Warm regards,
BetterSure

The plumbers came out to repair the leak. Again I was told that my pipeline needs to be repaired. It seems that this is not communicated to my insurer. This will only result in further pipe bursts and then we're back at square one.
At this moment, I'm not sure whether I would want to continue our service agreement as the outcome that I needed was not considered, seeing that I have had 4 bursts on the same pipeline in one year.
The work Prince plumbers does has a warranty of one year and yet I was asked to pay excess for three of the claims which I feel was wrong .
The communication between the insurer and service provider was not aligned and I was the one who was affected.
I'm sitting with a water bill of nearly R5000.00 which I'm not sure how i will pay.
It would have been great if my insurer told me that I will be reimbursed with R4500.00 of the excess fees we have paid for the same issue.
But this was not the case....
