Bettersure insurance

Please my advise is not to use Bettersure Insurance. With the recent bad weather. We experienced water leaks from the roof. I logged a claim with Bettersure only to be rejected. Reason being due to lack of maintenance. And debris blocking water flow. Bettersure did not take into consideration the severity of the storm and hail. There assessors seem to be on an incentive scheme for rejected claims. Turn around with regards to feed back is pathetic. I will be canceling with Better Not Sure....

Hello Roy,

We truly understand how upsetting it must have been to face storm damage and then feel unsupported during the claims process. Severe weather can be overwhelming, and we empathize with the stress this situation has caused you.

It may help to share some context: the purpose of insurance is to protect against sudden, unforeseen events like storms or hail. However, when a property isn’t adequately maintained, such as when debris blocks water flow or repairs are overdue, storms can unfortunately worsen the existing issues. In those cases, assessors view the damage as a result of maintenance problems rather than the storm itself, which is why claims may be declined.

This general exclusion is not unique to our insurance solutions, but it is universally applicable in the industry.

We know this distinction can feel frustrating, especially when the weather is extreme. The intention isn’t to dismiss your experience but to highlight that insurance is designed to cover unexpected events, not ongoing wear-and-tear or preventable damage.

If you would like to discuss the report or the outcome in more detail, please feel free to let us know.

Warm regards,
BetterSure

You mentioned poor maintenance. I regularly clean out my gutters and have send you pictures of this. I have also checked my tiles and have not noticed any out of place. Pictures sent. Repairs were done 2 years ago by a contractor provided my your company on a claim I had 2 years ago.

I purchased this property 3 years ago and we did full maintenance.

Please check your facts.

Did I not mention the roof was maintained and that there were not signs of debris obstructing drainage.

Hello Roy,

The photos captured during the assessment show otherwise.

Would you like us to arrange with our Claims Operations Manager to discuss the report and claim outcome in more detail?

Warm regards,

No need your discussion has been made. What would that change.
How are you to know if this was caused due to the hail. You should have done your due diligence as we your clients pay you to protect us from unforseen circumstances.
Your assessor should have checked with me on the weather conditions.
