Bettersure Home insurance: Just a money maker, no service

If you consider using Bettersure Home Insurance for Building or (Home insurance or Life Insurance) DON'T!!!!!! You will be wasting your money. I was introduced to them through my Bond originator. They ***gyback on these people to sell you Building & Life insurance once your Bond is approved. They provide a ******* service. They will find every reason NOT TO PAY!!! For small things like a blocked drain they can quickly send out plumbers that doesnt even do a good job, but the moment your gate motor is damaged or your roof is leaking or your sliding door needs to be fixed, they find EVERY REASON not to pay. My sliding door was damaged through vandalism ( which should be covered) and they still found a reason to reject the claim. When a part of my Gate motor was discontinued they rejected my claim because the manufacturer didnt make it anymore. Why should i be penalized because of discontinued parts. It cost me R 18 000, 00 to replace 2 Gate Motors. 2 months after the transfer of the property i bought, the roof was leaking. This is an existing property not a new built!! With the heavy rains in Nov 2025, there was some water damage. After contacting Bettersure Home insurance to attend to the damages they rejected my claim because of a lack of maintenance. I informed them that the lack of maintenance isnt my negligence since ive only had the property a couple of months. They didnt want to hear anything and i had to fix my own roof, another expensive exercise. I was paying them over R 3000, 00 every month and still fixing stuff around the house. When they rejected the claim for the sliding door i decided enough is enough. I cancelled the insurance on the 12 Nov 2025. On the 31st December 2025 they debited my Account again. When i contacted them to cancel the policy again, they informed me that is was calcelled in Nov 2025. I asked them the reasons why they debited my account. They took days to get back to me and even asked for proof of the debit order from my Bank statement. Now they have problems paying bank my money. They are a TRULY, USELESS INSURANCE COMPANY. If you sign up with them prepare yourself to fork out money for the big ticket items. The will find a reason to reject your claims. I wish someone warned me, i couldve saved a lot of money!!!!!!

Hello Vanessa,

Thank you for contacting us and sharing your experience. We’re truly sorry to hear about the frustrations you’ve faced with your claims and policy cancellation.

We understand how disappointing it must feel to deal with unexpected expenses while paying premiums.

It’s important to clarify that the purpose of insurance is to provide support for sudden, unforeseen events. Insurance does not cover ongoing maintenance issues or wear-and-tear, even in the case of newly purchased homes, as these fall under property upkeep rather than insurable risks. We encourage new homeowners to perform a detailed inspection of the home, before moving in, so that they are aware of all the maintenance and repair work needed on the property before moving in.

That said, we take your concerns seriously—particularly around the debit order after you cancelled your policy. We’d like to review your case in detail to ensure everything was handled correctly and also address the debit order issue.

We will ensure you get a response on the debit order as soon as possible.

Warm regards,
BetterSure
