Better not to ensure with Bettersure
They are not even worth a 1 star rating. This Review is to insure that no other people get pulled into ensuring their property through Bettersure. We came back from December Holiday in Jan 2025 to find a crack in our swimming pool step, on further inspection we discovered that the crack leads through my daughter’s bedroom, across the paving next to the pool, through the pool and out on the other side, through the wall. The crack in the wall has gotten bigger since then and it seems that the interior wall is starting to lean and could possibly collapse. Bettersure does not have enough money in the world to repay me if something has to happen to my kids when it collapses. I reported it in Jan 2025 after numerous calls and trying to get hold of them. They sent out 2 Building assessors and a structural Engineer to inspect the damage. All three of them concurred that there had been ground movement take place and that the foundation had shifted due to it firstly being very dry and then having a lot of rain thereafter (Natural Disaster). It is now 2months since the Engineer was at my premises. I have followed up almost every week for the last 6weeks and I still get the same answer. I have also been advised that it could be a possible rejection and that it is being reviewed. I will not take a rejection as an answer; this is the whole reason we get insurance so we can cover these types of mishaps. It has been 4 months since my initial claim submission, and I still have no answers. I feel that the Ombudsman would be the only way to go, to get things resolved.
We have looked at the assessment reports, and the engineer confirmed that the damage is due to settlement and poor workmanship on the foundation. Sadly, since your policy excludes subsidence, this claim is currently on a proposal for rejection.
We have sent the rejection proposal to the underwriter, and we await their feedback.
We apologise for the distress this has caused you, and we will let you know as soon as we get feedback from the underwriter.
Warm regards,
BetterSure
