They telling me about poor workmanship as if I was the owner when it was built. don't understand Betterbond recommend BETTERSURE for insurance knowing they don't want to pay their clients. I want to know I'm gonna lose my money that I paid all these yrs, I was paying for nothing, coz bettersure is benefitting from my money

The rejection letter you have received noted the reasons for the rejection of the claim, mainly due to defective workmanship, lack of maintenance and wear and tear. The purpose of home insurance is to help you recover from loss or damage to your home caused by a sudden, unexpected event as per the policy terms and conditions.
Unlike a car service and maintenance plan, home structure insurance is not a home maintenance insurance plan. The purpose is not to fix defects due to wear and tear, defective workmanship, or pre-existing damages before the policy commenced. These types of exclusions are general to the insurance industry.
It remains the homeowner's responsibility to ensure that the home structure is in good condition before buying a property and to undertake regular maintenance after the purchase. Even if you were not the owner who built the property, it is advisable to get the help of specialists to thoroughly assess the structure of the property you intend to buy so that you are aware of everything you are buying into.
We are sorry that the home you bought has these defects, and we are sad that you have decided to cancel your policy. If you have a bond, you will have to have homeowner’s cover. Regardless of the provider you decide on, please remember to read the policy terms and conditions to make sure you are aware of the cover and exclusions. We wish you all the best.
Regards,

16 Jul 2024, 09:28Hello Ntombozuko,
We really understand your frustration with your situation. When taking out insurance it is important to understand the cover one is paying for. The premiums you’ve paid provided you with protection for your home against sudden and unexpected events, for example damages caused by fire, lightning, explosion, storms, floods, an earthquake, bursting pipes, theft, malicious damage, subsidence and landslip.
Would you like one of our consultants to give you a call to take you through the benefits you’ve had while you paid your premiums, including the additional benefits you had under your policy?
Warm regards
BetterSure
